Drainage and Sewage

  GREASE TRAPS
A grease trap is required to slow down the flow of warm/hot greasy water and allow it to cool. In the process of the water cooling, the separation of grease and oil occurs and the separated oil and grease floats to the top of the grease trap.

The cooled water with the contents of oil and grease removed is able to flow down the pipe to the sewer. The separated oil and grease is trapped by baffles, which cover the inlet and outlet of the tank, thus stopping the oil and grease from escaping from the trap.

However grease traps do require frequent grease trap line maintenance. If the grease trap or drain line maintainence is not adhered to regularly blockages will eventually occur. At K-Drainage we have the facility to offer our clients/customers an on going maintenence contract if they wish.

  NON-RETURN VALVES
The Forge anti-flood sewer non-return valve we fit has been designed to prevent backflow from surcharging sewers. Danger of rising water backing up into a property through the drainage system can occur, however if the Forge non-return valve is fitted it will close off the backflow automatically to prevent flood damage.

Forge valves have now been used to protect many properties in low lying areas, such as properties located in valley bases or floors, and also properties which have basements can be affected by foul and combined sewers unable to cope with abnormal weather conditions.

The valve is float operated forcing a closure of the pipe when backflow occurs. The increased pressure from backflow on the flap forces it to close tightly preventing contaminated water and sewage from entering your drain system.
